Review: Craftiosity Macrame Plant Hanger Kit

Review: Craftiosity Macrame Plant Hanger Kit

I haven’t done a crafty post in a while, so I thought it was about time I rectified that situation!

Last September at the Handmade Fair I met Moira Fuller who runs Craftiosity - a craft kit subscription service - and loved some of the different projects she had on display that had been made using the different monthly kits. Although I’m not really in a position to commit to a new box every month - there just aren’t enough hours free for all the different crafts I want to try! - the Craftiosity Christmas shop provided the perfect opportunity to purchase a single kit to try.

I eventually got round to opening the box at the end of January (I mentioned the not enough time thing. right?) and was absolutely delighted with the contents and what I’ve manged to make from them!

Life Lessons from Knitting

Life Lessons from Knitting

Today I wanted to share with you a piece I wrote for Knitting magazine that featured in the December 2018 issue (No.188) - and although it’s the craft of knitting that has taught me many things, I believe the lessons learned are applicable on a much wider scale!

Work Like a Woman Day

Work Like a Woman Day

Hello! How’re things going? Hit the Christmas panic yet? Yeah, me too.

Let’s not think about that for now though, instead I want to tell you about a brilliant event I attended last month - Work Like a Woman Day, hosted by the Business & IP Centre at the British Library in London.

The Art of Contentment + A Giveaway!

The Art of Contentment + A Giveaway!

One of the things I love most about spending time on social media is the community aspect - I’ve become part of a number of groups over the years, and they definitely help me to feel connected with others doing similar work to me, or those with similar interests or outlooks. I’ve also formed friendships with a number of individuals, and even though we may never meet in real life, I still treasure them as much as people I’ve known for years.

Sewing: Sew Different Everyday Chic Dress

Hello again! Goodness the weeks just keep whizzing past don’t they, I can hardly believe we’re at the end of November already!

Anyway, that aside, here’s another closer look at one of my relatively recent personal craft projects. I say relatively recent, but I think I actually finished this one back in September!

Knitting: Rainbow Chakra Jumper

Knitting: Rainbow Chakra Jumper

I’ve been so busy working on and talking about the Moments Journal recently that I haven’t shared any of my personal projects for ages. It’s actually been quite nice to keep these things to myself and have something to do that’s separate from my work and business, but I’ve shared a couple of photos on Instagram that got some really lovely reactions so I thought I’d talk about a couple in more detail here too.

Creative Q&A: Joanna Payne / Adventures & Tea Parties

I'm delighted today to introduce another new series to the blog where I get to have a chat with some of my favourite creative people about what they do, what creativity means to them, and to pick their brains for tips and advice to help inspire your creative life too.

I've got several people already lined up for you to meet, but I'm starting today with one of my Instagram buddies, Joanna.

Crafting with the Senses: A Mindful Approach to Creativity

Crafting with the Senses: A Mindful Approach to Creativity

I recently wrote an article for Knitting magazine as part of their 'feel good' issue about a mindful approach to knitting encompassing all the senses, and afterwards it struck me that what I'd talked about and suggested could very easily apply to all kinds of other crafts and creative activities. So here is a slightly adapted version of that article which I hope you'll enjoy and take some ideas from. If you'd like to read the original, you can order the magazine here.
